Prigorje and Moslavina - Zagreb's pantry

Croatian Uplands

PRIGORJE AND MOSLAVINA

The eastern edge of Zagreb is an area of great bio-diversity whose geology is reflected in the oil fields, as well as in the glass and on the plate. Here we can find delicate and fragrant aperitif wines made from autochthonous varieties, as well as products from farms that supply Zagreb's best restaurants and markets. Young urban winemakers are discovering the potential of hidden white wines such as Skrlet, and some classic red varieties. Aromatic cheeses and premium meat products are produced and aged on farms. The collection of ethnic and gastronomic heritage is integrated into a rustic museum-restaurant surrounded by traditional village architecture made of carved wood, which has established itself as a favorite getaway place of this up-and-coming region.

On this tour, we will walk along a unique promenade under the treetops with birds chirping and a view of the specific flora and fauna of this semi-swampy area. At a local organic farm, we will hang out with goats and deer and see how the best homemade cheese in continental Croatia is made. After enjoying nature, it's time for lunch, and there's no better place for that than a restaurant that offers traditional Moslavina food, and is also a winery. We complete the day with a visit to another winery with a beautiful view of the vineyards and hills of this fairytale region.
